Lazy Day

What a lazy ol' day we've had today! Watched two DVD's with TAra and that's about it! Didn't get out of my PJ's until after 1pm...when I had to go get bread and milk!!

Danah's at her first Girl Guide Camp....couldn't help but think of her last night as it was cold AND wet here.....but I'm sure they'll be having a ball. It was dry and clear today so hopefully anything that got wet last night will be dry tonight! She comes home tomorrow (Monday) afternoon. I'm sure she'll have lots of stories to tell.

Mum & I did stop out at the camp site yesterday afternoon with 6 new compasses for them. I've been trying to secure free/donated goods for the girls since they started and finally had a win with ANACONDA - adventure sports store - who have kindly given us 6 ($45) compasses. In exchange we're all filling out their adventure membership (free) forms....so we'll get junk mail but I can live with that!!

Scrapping wise - I've been working on a photoless LO and step by step for LSBS - on Mid Year Resolutions. I'll share it now even though I haven't uploaded there just yet....but it will be up later tonight or tomorrow.

Also completed another on for the 123 cybercrop - had to use a pic from the 80's (before children), red/white and kitchen string or glitter. I ended up sewing the kitchen string into the frame around the photo!

I also whipped up a digi LO for my Digi Task #2 at LSBS - for those just learning to digi - I asked them to use their duplication function. Use the photo's of Master Bennett for this LO - from my visit to Melbourne in February - he's such a cutie!!

Did some mini chipboard squares this weekend too - for another DT member at LSBS - won't share those just yet or I'll spoil her surprise!

Dodgy Back

I'm in pain .... again!!!

Not my 'plastic surgery' scars....they have healed amazingly quickly & nicely! (see my "nose" 5 days after the surgery)

But this time it's my back!!! Don't know how but somehow on Tuesday afternoon (coming home in the train me thinks) I've done something and it got progressively worse as the night went on! By Wednesday I could barely walk! Sitting was okay but standing and walking were quite painful. Luckily my reflexologist could see me and I felt a bit better this morning although I only lasted 1/2 day at work! Hopefully it will continue to improve although tonight it's still not great :(

Back to Monday...youngest DD (Tara -8) made her Brownie promise. So now they are both happy and enjoying their Girl Guide experiences!

We've even been selling biscuits this week - the tiny ones with choc-tops. Both Peter & I have taken them to work and had no trouble selling them. I've had people ringing up looking for them and we're all out :(

Danah's getting ready to go off on Saturday morning on her very first Guide camp....although she's got a sore throat tonight and hopefully that won't get worse and stop her from going. So lots of excitment on the Guide front!

Scrapping wise - I'm a bit disappointed. I was supposed to teach last weekend at House of SCrapbooking but only had one sign up so we cancelled it and now this Saturday I was meant to be teaching at The Craft Attic - my first class there - and there's only one signed up ATM too :( so it won't be going ahead either. I'm not having much luck!

Can share my LO for Challenge 1 at the 123 Cyber Crop - had to use a song title from a 80's list, a sketch and white cardstock. Quite like this one using a photo of Peter & Danah from 1997!

Quick Post

Almost time for Grey's Anatomy to start....so I'll be super quick!

Scrapping to share....

First off - my Attic Inspiration Challenge #4 - 7 photos, black embellishment and replace a letter with an embellishment. Used the pics from Danah & my night with P!NK in the mosh pit!
Lastly (yes, only 2 this week) a digi task I put up at Little SCrapbook shop for some of our digi beginners - to put an element on an angle....
That's it!
Face is healing nicely (after my 'plastic surgery') - not so sore now unless I knock it. Kinda fighting off a cold type thingo at the moment.
Have a good week ;)

Plastic

When you get to my age, every woman should have a little plastic!!! No, not a credit card, but SURGERY!!!

After picking Mum & Dad up from the airport this morning (they had a great time - more stories another time) I went and had some minor surgery on my face!! It wasn't really plastic surgery although it was done by a Plastic Surgeon ;)

I had two small 'bumps' - one on the side of my nose and the other on my chin - that have annoyed me for ages so I decided to get them removed. My GP sent me to a plastic surgeon because they're on my face! Thought it sounded good - going to a plastic surgeon! I'm easily amused.

And it did seem like a good idea until NOW when the anesthetic has worn off and my face (left hand side) is aching!!!

Before I go and drug myself up and go to bed.....here's my latest LO for the June 123 Challenge competition. Had to use acrylic stamps (see edges of the word blocks - just), birds and polka dots. Read in a US mag about using the eraser on end of a pencil to stamp 'dots' so had a go at that.

CC Weekend

It's been our Cyber Crop weekend at LSBS and I learnt a very important lesson!

When you get tagged and bear your soul to the world through your blog....you really should be very careful how you answer said tag! In my previous post, I revealed that I have a fear of, amongst other things, using patterned papers from different brands TOGETHER on the same layout!!!
Well over at LSBS we have been letting the 'punters' choose the design team challenge and the lovely, very talented, Narelle, KINDLY nominated my fear as the challenge!!!!!

So here it is - my take on the challenge to use at least 3 different PP from different brands on the same LO!

Had a great time (don't tell Narelle) freestyling with the frame and putting together Fancy Pants, American Crafts and My Minds Eye patterned papers! And yes, that's Narelle on the left! Hi Steph on the right ;)

The challenge I set for this CC was to use the words to the lovely song "True COlours" as inspiration - you'll know the song from the current DOVE campaign.

My DT example LO is of my youngest DD, Tara. Check out the other wonderful LO's completed as part of this challenge.
I must make special mention of Chelle's LO for this challenge as it has made my day!! Thank you so much!

I also set a digital challenge which I'm pleased to say a few people have had a go at. Digi's not for everyone....but I quite enjoy it for a bit of a change. Here's my take on this challenge (about my darling friend Sandy - who's been having a tough time lately) which was to use :

Flowers - plural (more than one!)
Red - somewhere on the LO
Individual - use a photograph/s of ONE individual
Edges - do something to the edges of your page or photograph (maybe a brush/stitching??)
Name - I want to see the name of the individual somewhere on the LO
Drop shadow - use this feature (or equivelant in your software) on your LO

Speaking of friends - went into the Scrapbook Convention on this weekend on Sunday. Peter and the girls went to the Museum while I caught up with forum friends from SM Online and LSBS (Gypsy & Mum, Alison & Mum, Chelle & Kellie, Kerryn, Shannon, Kayla & Zane).

Lovely to meet in real life the lovely ladies from these two groups. Hoping to get us together SOON for a crop! Didn't spend up too much as I'd had a bit of a shop on Saturday at the Scrapbooks Etc sale! Megan has been at the Convention today working for Jude at Scrapbooking Top 50 - she had a great day too!

Up early in the morning to go pick up Mum & Dad who are back (already!!) from their first trip overseas! Can't wait to hear all about their OS adventures!

Thanks Chelle...

I've been tagged by the sweet and talented Chelle - so here goes....

Name three things that scare you... spiders, not doing a good job as a Mum and matching pattern papers from different brands!!!!

The daggiest thing in your music collection.....just one??? How about Boy George!?!

Your three favourite clothing items...denim, my new winter (shrek green) dressing gown and my trackie dacks (tracksuit pants).

Your partners most annoying habit.....hogging the bed and me not being able to squeeze into it when I finally come to bed at 2am after scrapping for hours and hours (oh, it was supposed to be his most annoying habit wasn't it ;0)

What stresses you out...when I tired....everything!!! Rushing in the mornings to get girls to school (with the right things packed) and me to the train/work on time!!!

If I could change the world I would...put women in charge!!!

Your favourite household chore…paying the house cleaner!

If you had fifty bucks to spend at Target which section would you head straight for…girls clothes

In my next life I would like to come back as….a woman in charge!

Your least favourite celebrity… Eddie McGuire (if you could call him a celebrity??)

I tag Megan, Lucy & Narelle :) Have fun ladies!

These boots were made for...

Danah (11) has got her way....and I've bought her boots this weekend! She keeps using her school trip to Sydney, Canberra & the snow in August as an excuse to buy lots of clothes etc and well....she just had to have boots! Quite like them and they are even my size...hmmm...maybe it wasn't such a bad idea afterall!

She had some exciting news on Friday after school. They've asked her to audition for the senior school Symphonic Band (she plays the Euphoneum - small tuba)....that's exciting enough as it is BUT the real excitement is that the Music Tour next year is to ......CHINA!!! OMGosh....how awesome would that bE! Previous years the music tour has been to north Qld or Victoria but there's an international (invitation only) music festival every year in China that the school has been invited to attend!

Friday was also big for Danah as she made her "promise" at Guides and is now a 'proper' Girl Guide. It was a lovely ceremony even though the candles/matches didn't cooperate. I also participated by giving her my promise badge from when I was a Brownie. Tara will get my other badge when she makes her Brownie promise in a week or so. I've volunteered to help find some new compasses for the Guides before Danah goes on her first Guides camp at the end of June....so if you know anyone wanting to donate 10-12 good quality compasses to our District, please let me know!!! (think I may have got something sorted already - hopefully!)

Tara's had a nice weekend with a little friend staying most of the weekend.
Bailey's folks run a personal training gym that Tara did a kids boot camp session with on Saturday morning (EARLY Saturday morning!!!) but she loved it and Bailey ended up coming home too!
Saturday evening Danah decided to give the 'little' girls a facial....so here's her efforts.

Even used the cucumber over the eyes (which Tara decided she'd poke holes in!!). All good fun!

Scrapping wise - Danah did a circle journal LO this weekend for a long running kids CJ - here's her "friends" entry.

I did my third LO for the Craft Attic Inspiration competition. You had to use "grow" in the title and the LO had to be about yourself with pic! I'd had a horrid day at work on Thursday so doing this LO was quite therapetic. The quote I've used is "I was born to learn, to grow, to expand, to love, to create, to enjoy, to see the beauty in all things including myself."

I also found time to do a LO for the June Cyber Crop at 2 Croppin Cousinz - an American site I visit sometimes. Did this LO based on a Elsie sketch challenge posted for the CC using a pic of Tara from first day of school this year.

I've been flat out judging for the big comp over at LSBS! The winners have been announced today....congrats to all who entered - the work was amazing and very hard to judge!!!

I'd also like to say a BIG congratulations to Alicia, Michael & Kyan who are expecting a new member of the family in December!! How very exciting - I hope the pregnancy goes well for you Leish!

Conversation

The scene : Saturday - driving with eldest DD (11) in the car and I'm singing a song (badly) playing on the radio

The song: Nick Gilder's "Hot Child in the City" circa 1978

DD: "This is an old song!"

Me: "What makes you say that?"

DD: "You know the words to it!!!"
