She's Eight!

Busy busy week...so what's new about that??!!

It was Tara's 8th birthday on Thursday - we started celebrating Wednesday night and our weekly dinner with my folks - pressies and cake.

Thursday she opens her presents from us in the morning and took goodies to school to share with her class. She had choir first up and they sang "Happy Birthday" to her three times (with cha cha cha inserts) ie. "happy birthday to you (cha cha cha) happy birthday to you (cha cha cha) happy birthday dear...." you get the idea!

The plan for the evening was to have dinner at home and then take her down to get her ears pierced at our hairdressers - the girls didn't know about the ear piercing! I was unprepared for dinner (thought I had ingredients I didn't) so we ended up at Montezuma's first and then down to Cleveland for the big surprise - ear piercing time! She was so excited! It all went well - no tears this time and Tara didn't cry either!!! (I cried when Danah had her ears pierced at 8!!! She didn't - just me!)

Then to finish off her birthday week - we had four little friends come out to Sizzler for lunch on Saturday!

Presents at home, lunch at Sizzler, cake at home and some Sing Star to finish off the day!

She loved it all!

In amongst all that - I had a crop at Scrapbook Etc on Friday night - with all the lovely 'regulars' and few new ladies! Left to right: Sara P, Miranda, Zane, Chelle, Sara N, me, Leanne, Renae & Brenda.

One of the ladies I met for the first time was Leanne who's older sister did my wedding makeup many years ago (15 this year I think!). Small world! Chelle also realised after looking at Leanne's album that she used to cut Leanne's husbands hair when she was still hairdressing!

Wasn't a particularly productive crop - did make a start on the 3 8x8 albums I'm making for family overseas.

Saturday saw the launch of LSBS's latest addition - Digital scrapbooking! Check out the digi chat or shop for digi elements/kits etc. I downloaded the monthly freebie and did my first digi LO in absolutely ages - loved doing it actually. Used KSK Designs Digital Sample Kit Good Things .. Spun Sugar, brushes from Tasty Tattoo(Designfruit) and LSBS font - Dream Orphans.

Might have to increase our broadband options if I'm going to get back into digi or our download limit will get reached way too quickly.

Today I hosted my first STampin' Up party...and had a ball. The lovely Ms Zane did a wonderful job and I hope everyone enjoyed themselves.

It's Sunday night - off to watch Grey's in a minute and try and get the rest of the washing done. REally don't feel like I've had a weekend this weekend - lucky we're off to Caloundra on Friday for a week....bring it on!!!

Have Fun Ann

Peter & I enjoyed a lovely dinner on Friday night @ WEstend Gardens to farewell my lovely friend Ann - who's off to Rockhampton with her promotion! Managed to snap this lovely pic of her and wanted to wish her well here....she sometimes gets time to visits my blog!

As I've probably mentioned before, Ann introduced me to scrapbooking about seven years ago...I thank her for that everyday (Peter doesn't!!!)

Hope I'll still get to see her occasionally - through work and maybe even for scrapping!

Have fun in Rockvegas Ann :)

Canvas Class

Today I've conducted my first scrapbook class at House of Scrapbooking, Birkdale!

Had four very lovely ladies working on a canvas - using this one (right) as their base.

Took pics of course...and they agreed to let me share them here!
If you drop in for a visit Gloria, Rose, Cher or Bev - don't forget to leave me a comment!
This is Bev's canvas!
And Cher's.
And here is the lovely Rose with her 'rose' - beautiful!

And finally Gloria and her Ella canvas!
Thanks ladies - hope you enjoyed it too!
Must have done OK as June @ House has asked me back for another class in April - yay!

In Memory

Cath @ LSBS sent up to QLD some chatterbox tags with Scrapwitch, Webgod & Scrapgoddess (on their recent Qld scrap journey from central coast NSW)...along with a challenge to do a LO using the tags, a monogram and ribbon.....so here's my LO for this challenge.

My beautiful Aunt, Robyn, died at the young age of 51 almost 9 years ago....I found this photograph of her (the last time I saw her @ a family wedding in 1997) while looking for another one recently and decided I had to scrap it....to keep my memories of her alive.

To me, as her niece, she was always a bright and bubbly person - vibrant! Family was important and she always went out of her way to make you feel welcome and part of her family! This photograph says all this to me. There's hidden journalling with all Robyn's details on the LO so future generations will know what a wonderful person (Aunty) she was!

Nostalgic Day

Yesterday afternoon we had tickets to see a production of "Cats" - I knew the girls would love it - Peter & I had seen it before (me several times including in Melbourne & SYdney) but really wanted to take the girls.

It was on at the Schonell Theatre - at the University of Queensland (UQ).

Now I've been talking about us all going over there with our push bikes for a ride and we just haven't gotten around to it....but yesterday we had time to have a look around.

You see...I went to UQ when I was a fresh faced 17 year old - straight out of high school. I lived on campus (because we lived in Rockhampton at the time) and I lOVED it!!! Met some wonderful life-long friends and did what 17-20 year olds do while at uni......drink, party, fraternize, oh....and learn!!!

Now I've obviously been back to visit over the years since I left at the end of 1984 (omgosh was it THAT long ago!!) but yesterday I had the girls with me....and I was really emotional about it.

The production of Cats was great - the girls loved it - but my highlight of the day was re-living some old memories of my youth long gone!

To top of my nostalgic day.....Mum found this photograph of my brother & I (circa 1968?) which I can't wait to scrap....but had to share today :) Check out my gloves and THAT handbag!!! How cute is my brother??!!
Cath has put better photos of my Sugar Cube on the LSBS Blog although they're not on the LSBS home page yet - should be soon.
Late last night made a start (sort of) on a calendar swap I have to do....but that mojo is still MIA.....

Attack of the Guilts!

I'm having a major attack of the guilts!!! I'm back from Melbourne...not feeling 100% and seem to have left my scrappin' mojo down there :(.....and feeling guilty because I didn't catch up with my other friends who live in Melbourne.

Christine (who reads my blog occasionally) knew I was coming down at some stage in February....sorry chickie...I'm slack I know!!!

And then there's Rowena.....late yesterday we get a phone call from Row saying I've been on her mind this week OMG...can you believe it??? I haven't spoken to her in ages and ages (mid last year probably) and the week I'm in Melbourne, she rings her the day after I get home and I haven't called her while I'm down there....first time ever!!!

I was in a major panic before going to Melbourne to get the March step-by-step project completed for my DT job at LSBS - check out my Urban Lily Sugar Cube mini album on my trip to Canada (see the sneak peak).
Love how it turned out with the yummy fancy pants PP - but I was in such a panic to get it done on time and uploaded onto the forum....that I'm all scrapped out...exhausted and mojo-less now!!! Hope it comes back soon.
